The members of the Taylor Harvey Band have been performing music on stages of all sizes long enough to have gotten plenty of attention. Since coming together in October of 2003 through a long series of trial and error adventures, they have united their backgrounds to forge a blend of rock and roll that is at the same time contemporary and "old school." The first studio CD by the band, "A Place To Call My Own" caused a stir locally and garnered the band a good following. Their second effort, "Beauty In The Eye," released in April is already getting them noticed and invited to some of the premier original music venues in San Diego.
Taylor Harvey Band: Bio
Taylor Harvey - Vocals/Guitar
Taylor cut his teeth on stage with a local Jimmy Buffett cover band, then went on to spend 12 years as one of the busiest solo entertainers around. During two years in New Mexico he fronted classic rock bands, which made him determined to work on original material when he returned to San Diego in 2001. His first solo CD, "No Loitering," was very well received and left lots of friends and fans anxiously awaiting the next one. Taylor knew that the next effort would only sound better with a full-time band of slightly eccentric musicians, and recruiting for The Taylor Harvey Band began.
Mike Callan - Bass
Info to come!
Victor Gross - Lead Guitar/Vocals
Victor brings an array of talents to the band that can't help but expand its musical boundaries. A seasoned veteran who's played in countless bands, venues and towns, Vic is an old-school player who you'll also hear playing mandolin and banjo on upcoming THB recordings. He's played with just about everyone in San Diego over the years and also teaches the next generation of guitar heroes out of Valley Music in El Cajon. Victor also loves his Harley, and we hope he and Mike don't get their bikes confused.
Artie McAvoy - Drums/Vocals
Originally from Boston, Artie brings an infectious energy to the band in addition to his chops, feel, dynamics and incredible hair! A graduate of the Percussion Institute of Technology in Los Angeles, he's an intuitive and solid player. His local projects include The Corduroys, K.G.M. and the legendary Jeff Wise & Almost Live. Ask him what time it is and he'll always tell you, "it's Artie time!"
