Back in action at Humphrey's! - April 28, 2006

The guys are happy to be back in action and back at Humphrey's on Tuesday, May 2! If you haven't seen the band in a while there are new songs that you haven't heard yet, and TH will be pulling some acoustic numbers out of the archives as well. As always your support is appreciated, so come on out and enjoy the surroundings at one of San Diego's finest original music venues. Full info on the calendar page.

Some great new toys the guys want to share! - April 25, 2006

Yes, like all musicians the guys in the THB are always getting new toys to play with. Have you seen Gregg's cool blue drums yet? How about Mike's Fender Telecaster Bass? What's really new right now is Taylor's old Godin telecaster newly fitted with HOT P-90 pick-ups and Tim's brand spankin' new Vox AC30 amplifier! Come out to a show soon and share in the excitement!

hundreds pay respects to buddy blue - April 7, 2006

The THB joined several hundred other Buddy Blue fans, friends and family in Harry Griffin Park in La Mesa today to remember Buddy Blue. There were many speakers, including his wife, Annie and longtime bandmate Jerry Raney, and there was laughter as well as tears as the stories were told. Perhaps the most poignant moment was Earl Thomas's stirring a capella rendition of "Out Of The Rain." Afterwards, many crowded into the Parkway Bar, the site of Buddy's last performance and a favorite bar of his, to share stories and laughs and lift a toast (or two) to a legendary music man. We in the THB are proud to have had an all-to-brief friendship with Buddy, and wish all the best in the future for his wife and child.

A sad day in san Diego music history - - April 2, 2006

At about 11:00 this morning, Farmers/Beat Farmers guitarist and vocalist Buddy Blue died of a sudden heart attack. The news came as a shock to the San Diego community and there are many sad Farmers friends and family today. The Taylor Harvey Band family sends our deepest sympathies to Annie and the entire Farmers band and family. Buddy left a musical legacy with his playing, singing and writing that will never be duplicated or forgotten. R.I.P. Buddy Blue.

rockin' the parkway bar! - March 29, 2006

Tim and Taylor had the honor of sitting in with Buddy Blue and Jerry Raney of The Farmers Saturday night at the Parkway Bar, and a great time was certainly had. Buddy and Jerry had the place SRO with their faithful fans and Tim & Taylor performed White Trash Blues and a few other choice THB tunes on acoustic guitars to an enthusiastic audience. We highly recommend you get out and see The Farmers whenever you can. Link info is on the Link page.

sad cancellation note... - March 16, 2006

The guys were all set to unveil some brand new songs at Humphrey's, but due to circumstances beyond their control the March 30th show there has been moved back to May 2nd. On the bright side, the band will certainly be dialed in on lots of great new music for your dancing pleasure by that time. Please stay tuned to the Calendar page for all the THB gigs around town.

exciting website changes! - March 14, 2006

If you haven't been around here in a while, we've made some changes that are very nice and worth checking out! First of all, check out the logo at the top of the page! It's clearer, sharper and much easier to read. Also redone is the Music page. The layout is now much easier to read and in addition to lo-fi clips there are now hi-fi downloads for you computer or iPod! Thanks to Angela for getting all these changes together and keep your eyes out for more in the future.

what a great weekend at don's! - March 2, 2006

The THB would like to thank all our regulars and all the locals, plus a great bar staff for a tremendous weekend! Both nights kicked ass thanks to a few birthdays (you go, Terri) and some great dancers. We can't wait to get back out there and we hope you'll come out and see what all the fuss is about! Check the calendar page for the next Don's Cocktail Lounge gigs.

Back out to Don's Lounge for the weekend! - February 23, 2006

Yep! It's back out to Don's Cocktail Lounge for a weekend of revelry at our favorite roadhouse. You know, I kid that this place has the smallest men's room in San Diego County, but I was at Bully's La Jolla recently and it might come down to a measurement! Come party with us anyway! Check the calendar page for more info.

What an awesome sunday!! - February 12, 2006

Ladies and gentlemen, it is officially Plank season! As many of you know, Taylor has been playing solo at the Plank (with a variety of musical accomplices) for many years now, and today was a perfect example of the reason why! A crowded patio right by the beach, a great bartender (Eric) keeping the afternoon lubricated, a wonderfully unpretentious local crowd and at the center of it all a guy with a guitar and enough surviving brain cells to keep everybody partying in the same direction. You should make an effort to come down and be part of an afternoon at Ye Old Plank Inn in Imperial Beach. It's a party you won't soon forget! For details, see the calendar page.

THB update! - February 9, 2006

If you haven't come out to see us lately, we've got some suprises for you. We're doing some great new songs, both original and cover, that you need to hear. February and March the band is playing in Solana Beach, Lakeside/El Cajon, Coronado, Ramona and Shelter Island, so it stands to reason that one of those locations is close enough to give you the opportunity to come on out and give a listen. We look forward to seeing you at a dive near you soon!

THB makin' friends! - February 5, 2006

Friday, February 3 the THB shared the stage with The Farmers and a new band to the circle of friends, Whiskey Tango. Whiskey Tango is a great alt/country band that took the stage first and started things rolling with their brand of home-brewed country, then the THB ripped through a rockin' set to warm up the stage for The Farmers. It was a night of kick ass music and if you were there, you know it was a great show all around. We look forward to working with both The Farmers and Whiskey Tango again!

Two big nights at Humphrey's coming up! - January 17, 2006

That's right, on Jan. 31 the THB will grace the Backstage Lounge all night, from 8 to midnight, with their sets you know and love and a few new songs, too. Then on Feb. 3 the band will open for The Farmers with a hot set from 9:30 - 10:15. If you haven't seen The Farmers yet, we urge you to come and see what they're all about. It'll be a great night of hot rock & roll!

Come celebrate Tim's birthday, THB style! - January 16, 2006

That's right, our beloved guitar picker Tim Edwards has a birthday coming up this Friday, Jan. 20 and the band will be celebrating with some rock & roll at the Surf-n-Saddle in Solana Beach. Come on out and wish Tim a happy birthday and have a drink or two.

I just got the official word - January 7, 2006

Bill and Jan Wang are off to Florida and the date for their fare-thee-well bash is set. I hope that many of you who may stop by and read this have been fortunate enough to meet the Wang's. They are truly awesome people who have supported local music ardently (TH and the band included) for many years. Their legendary "Live At The Wang's" house concert series hosted a long line-up of San Diego and not-so San Diego artists, treated them well and made it a memorable night for everyone. Bill and Jan will be missed, but now there's another reason to go to the Florida Keys. Good luck and much love from the THB to the Wang's.

a very happy new year to one and all! - December 31, 2005

What a weekend for the THB! Thursday night we got our first shot at the venerable Belly Up Tavern opening for The Farmers and The Blasters and we made a great showing! Everyone liked us and we started what I'm sure will be a good and long-lasting ralationship with the BUT. Friday night we started the New Year's weekend at Don's Cocktail Lounge in Lakeside, one of our favorite places, and had an awesome night with Troy and Don from the Little Efert band dropping in to lend some enthusiasm. Now we're set for a kick ass show tonight to usher in the new year with great rock n roll and greater friends. So here's to all our loyal supporters - let's keep this sucker rollin' into the new year! Thanks for your friendship and we look forward to seeing you all in 2006!

THB invited to take the stage at the Belly Up! - December 7, 2005

Big news for the band! Today the THB confirmed the opening slot for local legends The Farmers with Americana pioneers The Blasters to headline the show on Thursday, December 29. Showtime is 8:00 p.m. and tickets are available at the Belly Up box office or on their website at www.bellyup.com. This promises to be a powerful set, so come up to Solana Beach and cheer on your favorite dive bar band as they take a BIG step up the local ladder.

this is why you should see the THB play as often as possible! - November 28, 2005

You just never know who's gonna come strolling in! Saturday night at Molly Malone's the band was joined onstage by the incredible guitar slinger Mike Broward. Mike stayed all night, throwing awesome guitar licks back and forth with Tim. The lovely local, Sarah, joined in with her harmonicas for a while as well. What a treat it was!

start makin' new years plans to party with the THB! - November 2, 2005

The deal is done, everyone! The THB will be rockin' in the New Year at Don's Cocktail Lounge! Drink specials, food and a Masquerade Ball will be highlights as well. The incredible Terri will be behind the bar and the party will go until we all fall down! Hey, you gotta be somewhere, right? Come on out and do it up right!

The Dive Tour '05 shirts are here and available at any gig for a measly ten bucks! These heavy duty cotton T's are black with the band logo on the front and some of the bars the band plays on the back. You could pay more for a great shirt, but why? Hope lots of you can come out to Humphrey's Backstage Lounge Tuesday, Oct. 25 and party with the band. We'll be there from 8 to midnight. See calendar page for address and more details.

last night at the surf n saddle! - October 15, 2005

I was pleasantly suprised by the attendance of my good friend Rob Mehl, fresh back from Hawaii and the recording of his new CD "Could You Be More Pacific." For those of you who don't know about Rob, he's an absolutely absorbing story teller and his songs are filled with a gentle humor and spirituality that are lively and comforting at the same time. Listening to Rob's music is like taking a short vacation! Please take the time to check out his website at www.robmehl.com.
